Cabarete is a small town about 15 minutes from the city of Sosúa, in the north of the Dominican Republic, in the area known as Punta Plata (“silver point”).  It is a major tourist town, but perhaps because it is best known as a center for kitesurfing, Cabarete Dominican Republic attracts a somewhat younger tourist crowd and better nightlife than Sosua, Punta Cana, and other tourist destinations on the island. A Cabarete vacation is best suited to the young or young at heart.

Landscapes of mountain and valley, idyllic beaches of white sand and beautiful crystalline water provide an excellent backdrop to the Cabarete kitesurfing and the windsurfing experts. If you love these sports, or activities like scuba diving or snorkeling, Cabarete is the place for your Dominican Republic vacation.

Cabarete kitesurfing is some of the best in the world. Each year, the pleasant town hosts several important events on the world circuits of kitesurfing and of windsurfing. There are many great schools offering lessons in these and other adventure sports and many tour companies organize inland excursion, with bird spotting ecotourism trips to the Laguna de Cabarete or Punta Goleta especially popular.

Located between a laguna and a bay, Cabarete Dominican Republic is best known for Cabarete Beach, a beach of white and golden sand in which we find waves, wind and crystalline water: perfect ingredients for kitesurfing or of the windsurfing, but also great for chillin’. Despite its popularity with young tourists, Cabarete retains a strong local flavor.

This is a town it is hard to visit just once, and many people you encounter here are returning for a repeat vacation. It's easy to see why: Great for all visitors, there are many apartments and hotels on the outskirts of town and many restaurants, bars, record stores and nightlife spots. There are also a number of golf courses around Punta Plata. A Cabarete vacation is good for relaxing or having fun during the day and partying at night.
